BIOGRAPHY

The band Moonraisers has been founded in 1992. That was the time of first concerts on little local stages. That was also the time of vinyl and cassettes, maybe you remember. At that time, the Moonraisers recorded their first twelve "roots" songs, which were published with the album "Down Town Massive" in 1994 on CD, the new thing of the moment.

Since then a lot of things changed, as well the way of working in studio as the medium for recording and those new possibilities in the digital world. The Moonraisers kept the rhythm and developed their own style, the "Moonstyle Reggae", a unique synergy between Reggae and Funk, Rock or Electro. A clear and singular sound, conscious lyrics, a charismatic singer, a fancy instrumentation, a special energy - these are the constants in the Moonraisers project.

1996, after a long work in studio, the album "Mirror" was released, which enabled the Moonraisers to play on more known stages and to attract more and more attention on them. Two years later, they had a first breakthrough, when they got the rights to play and publish a "moonstyle" version of the classical "Hotel California" from The Eagles. Meantime, this song has been downloaded tousands of times and is on airplays all over the planet.

The next album was "Legacy", released in 1999, which already represented the musical palette of the Moonraisers. The concerts got more and more frequent and the stages bigger and more famous. The LIVE transmissions at the radio station Couleur 3 helped to get known in Switzerland, too.

A lot of concerts followed and the fans of Moonstyle Reggae got more and more. It is well known, that the Moonraisers reach a very large public. With the single "Goes Around", published in 2003 and attended with a video clip in comics style, drew by Luc Janin, which tells the story of the "Moony", the logo or rather the mascot of the band, several international doors began to open.
The same year the next album, "Human", was released, which made demonstration of a perfectly mastered genre. The fans of big vibrations couldn't miss the show of this band. Meanwhile, the Moonraisers don't have to prove anything anymore, they are established in the Swiss and international Reggae scene. The release of "Human" was followed by a tour with important concerts, amongst most famous festivals in Switzerland, as the Paleo Festival.

2007 was a crucial year in the history of the Moonraisers, because it was the year when "Do The Right Step" was released with the hit "Rise Up" in Reggae version. The worldwide success of the original of this song in house version of Yves Larock leaded Jaba, the singer, guitarist and leader of the Moonraisers, in clubs and festivals all over the world and opened the Moonraisers the opportunity to present their Moonstyle Reggae in Switzerland, France, Italy, Slovenia and Portugal, by the way.

The Moonraisers are in many playlists of radio stations, they are present in the medias and in the web. More than one million downloads and listenings since the publication on music download platforms, more than 1000 visitors on their own website each day, that tells enough. Then, their concert list is absolutely impressive: the Moonraisers have played more than 700 concerts! They afford concerts for 500 as well as for 25'000 people, like at the Solidays festival in Paris in 2009. They seized all promoters, all auditors, as at the Montreux Jazz Festival, at Paleo or Sunsplash in Italy, etc.

Today, the Moonraisers are one of the inevitable bands, high profiled in media and on stage. Thanks to big ambitions, staying power and personal engagement they follow their way with growing success.

In fact, this is a project with a long history. A lot of musicians were involved and found a stepping stone in the Moonraisers. "The Story" (2010) is an overview of this long way of nearly two decades.

Conscious that their music is not a choice, but their destiny, they leave, everywhere they pass, the memory of a unique acoustic experience.
Let's see what the destiny brings in future......
